What patients say on Google

“I’ve had such a great experience with this doctor’s office. The staff is always so friendly and welcoming, and they really make you feel comfortable from the moment you walk in. They do an amazing job communicating and explaining treatments, medications, and every step of the process in a very detailed and easy-to-understand way. I’ve honestly never had a bad experience here. Special shoutout to Nurse Erika! She is incredibly kind and friendly. She makes every visit feel so comfortable, like I’ve known her for years. Thank you to the whole team for always providing such great care!”

“I had a very disappointing experience with A New Era Psychiatry following a virtual visit. Unfortunately, I did not receive the help or follow-up that was clearly promised. Nicole Watson assured me she would speak with her supervisor and follow up with me regarding a specific request that was very important to me. However, despite multiple calls on my end and repeated assurances from the front desk that my message would be passed along, I never received any response. What made this especially frustrating was the lack of direct communication. There was no way to reach Nicole Watson directly, so I had to rely entirely on the front desk, which made the process even more difficult and impersonal. I would have completely understood if my request could not be fulfilled. The issue is not the outcome, but the lack of follow-through. Making a promise to a patient and not honoring it, despite multiple reminders, is unacceptable. Since this was a virtual visit, I am not certain which specific location this provider is associated with. For that reason, I may share this feedback across multiple locations to ensure it is seen and addressed. Overall, this experience felt dismissive and unprofessional. I hope they improve their communication and accountability, as patients deserve clarity, respect, and reliability.”

“I really hate leaving negative reviews, especially because Anew Era has played an important role in my mental health journey. I’ve been a patient for almost three years, and medication has genuinely improved my quality of life. Most of the time, things are fine. But the administrative issues that do happen have been so disruptive and poorly handled that they’ve become genuinely jarring. I’m now on my third Nurse Practitioner due to what feels like constant turnover. When one provider left, I wasn’t given a refill and ended up without medication for two weeks during a major life transition. I was crumbling, and even after explaining the situation, I was denied a courtesy refill or samples despite being stable on the same medication for years. Therapy was another difficult experience. I missed one appointment during peak tax season (I’m a tax preparer) and rescheduled a couple within the allowed timeframe. Reception told me that because of those reschedules, my psychologist could no longer see me because they “needed consistency.” I was embarrassed and confused — it felt like I was being dropped as a patient. When I mentioned this during my next confirmation call, the staff member checked and told me my psychologist had no idea this had been said and had never intended to stop seeing me. The disconnect between reception and the clinician was so stressful and discouraging that I forfeited my spot entirely, worried the situation would repeat during an already overwhelming time. Most recently, my current provider was suddenly listed as being on medical leave. They had told me, but with everything going on, I forgot — and the communication at this practice has been confusing enough that I wasn’t sure what was accurate. I was reassigned to a backup provider, then reassigned again the next morning to a different one. I was left uneasy about the sudden switch, so a couple of hours before my appointment, I searched for my provider because I genuinely didn’t know whether he had actually left the practice. I found what looked like his Google Voice number, called, and left a voicemail. He texted back saying he’d be back Monday — something the office didn’t know. So when they called to say the backup practitioner was waiting for me, I suddenly had new information that changed the equation. I didn’t want to be charged to see a backup provider and then charged again to see my own provider the following week, especially since I still had medication left and preferred continuity of care. Instead, I was told I’d be charged a cancellation fee, with zero empathy or effort to problem‑solve — despite the last‑minute changes they had already made on their end. I was already grieving the loss of my cat and overwhelmed from work, and the rigidity pushed me past my limit. I ended up crying to the backup provider — a complete stranger — from sheer stress and overwhelm, and afterward I couldn’t help but feel cold, distant, and upset about the whole situation that had just unfolded. I’m not trying to burn bridges. I’m still here because I don’t know if it’s better elsewhere. But these issues have been genuinely jarring, and I hope Anew Era takes this feedback seriously. Stability and clear communication matter in mental health care.”

“I have struggled with depression and anxiety on and off for many years. I’ve tried several different medications, holistic approaches, and have been in therapy for over 15 years. My primary care provider wanted to place me on medication again, but because of my previous experiences with medications, I wanted to explore other options. She mentioned TMS, so I started researching providers and came across New Era. My first point of contact was Marissa, and she was extremely helpful from the very beginning. She made the process feel easy and helped move everything along quickly. The process starts with filling out forms, followed by scheduling an evaluation with the psychiatrist. If you are approved, you then schedule your first TMS appointment, where they take measurements of your head to properly position the machine in the area that targets depression. After that, you schedule the rest of your TMS sessions. If you have a busy or complicated schedule, they really do their best to work with you. I began TMS treatment in March 2026, and it did take some time before I noticed signs that it was helping. I personally started noticing changes toward the end of my sessions. Coming in five days a week can be difficult at times, but I am incredibly thankful for Erika and Marissa. They have made this experience so pleasant and comforting. They make you forget that you are even receiving treatment. They consistently go above and beyond to make sure you feel supported in every way possible. I have also worked with their nurse practitioner, Kammie, who has been wonderful as well. There is parking on-site, and they validate parking, which is very convenient. If you are debating whether to try TMS, I strongly encourage you to give it a chance. The Long Beach team is truly wonderful, and I’m very grateful for the care and support they have given me throughout this healing journey ❤️‍🩹”
